I was too busy looking to the right and missed this beautiful old house on the left....luckily the driver of the expedition saw it and turned around.
What struck me most about this old home. besides the wood shaker siding, was how straight and true it still appears to be.
Sad.
ReplyDeleteSo many abandoned, falling down buildings that could've been used.
DeleteYou wonder about all the drama of life that took place within those walls. If only they could talk........
ReplyDeleteHi David, I think about that so often when out exploring.
DeleteIt does look sturdy, I like it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill! Well built I guess!
Delete...when I see this I wonder why?
ReplyDeleteHi Tom, me too!
DeleteThey built them to last in those days.
ReplyDeleteTrue story! :)
DeleteIt does seem sturdy.
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly so compared to ones I have seen of a similar age.
DeleteIt’s a beauty! Waiting for someone to notice it!
ReplyDeleteSure glad I was able to see it!
DeleteYour header pic is stunning, friend Jenn! The sturdy lil house is a precious reminder of our sturdy homesteaders and pioneers. One of these days I'll find the time and show you the gems in my neck of the woods. Promise :) Love, cat.
ReplyDeleteHi Cat, thank you! I look forward to it!
DeleteNeat house
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam! I agree.
DeleteIt certainly does seem unusually upright and the roof-line also looks dead straight too. I'm often surprised when seeing your photos that many buildings stand in such open country. Here any house in an isolated position would be surrounded by trees and outbuildings.
ReplyDeleteHi John, quite often there was a shelter belt of trees around these homesteads but yes sometimes there are out in the open with nothing around them...easier for us photographers to see! lol
DeleteYup... it's old and deserted... but still standing strong.
ReplyDeleteI sure wish I could find an old photo of every old place I find!
Deleteit is a beauty, well built as it has stood the test of time!! i think about all of the parties, christmases and joy this house has seen. i wonder if any babies were born here, how many came home to this once beautiful home...i think it is still very beautiful!!!
ReplyDeletegood to have the observant driver!!!
Hi Debbie, I think they are beautiful too and I think how emotional it must be for the former owners or family to see it.
DeleteI think that this must be the shortest blog that I have ever read. That said, it's an excellent image of this unusually large old house.
ReplyDeleteHi Glen...yes there was a longer post previous now a quick short one. Gotta change it up lol!
DeleteGosh it is so photogenic there with the gorgeous sky above. Was well built in the beginning Jenn ✨
ReplyDeleteHi PDP, the sky and the wheat field in the background made my day!
DeleteHello Jenn,
ReplyDeleteA fantastic picture.
Great with the colors around of the green grass and the blue sky.
Well done!!
Greetings, Marco
Thanks Marco! It was a pretty day....now we have snow!!
DeleteBeautiful picture!
ReplyDeleteThanks Danielle, I really liked this place. Had a good vibe despite being abandoned.
