This last trip out exploring has sure provided a lot of pictures and subjects for me to research more about.
One quick stop was at this big old barn near Duhamel, AB. It is definitely not your traditionally shaped red barn. Someone suggested it was once a horse barn, which I could see being a possibility judging by it's shape. I was also told that there also used to be a home here at some point and that the same family has always owned this land. In any case, it's a lovely old barn.

Old Timey |
I really like how you photographed the barn in the first photo.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andy, it is one of my favourite photos recently!
DeleteI love that "Old Timey" look! It's such a shame that so many buildings are just fading away...along with the history of the people who lived there. That barn is awesome. If I had a zillion dollars, I'd restore it and likely live in it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rain! Wouldn't that be cool? I'd keep the big barn door too.
DeleteThat's a big 'un! I would imagine lots of horses called this place home at one time or other.
ReplyDeleteHi Michael, I say it all the time, but I wish I could have seen these places when they were full of life and in use!
DeleteThat old time treatment really is evocative!
ReplyDeleteThanks William, I wanted to do something different since I only really had the 2 angles.
DeleteA a monumental barn & what a beauty! It looks especially historic in the last photo! Great find!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine! Now that I pay attention, there are barns everywhere in all shapes and stages of disrepair. I love them all! lol
DeleteI never used to pay much attention to barns. A few years ago when I was hanging out with someone on a day trip I started paying attention when my barn obsessed friend would stop at every barn he saw. I am not quite as bad but I picked up a bit of the barn habit and look for unique barns or barns with character.
ReplyDeleteI was the same when I first started out BW, now I appreciate barns so much more. I just think of what a barn meant to a homestead.
DeleteIf you like barns head for southern Saskatchewan. They have more barns than you can shake a stick at...lol!
DeleteI must go!!!! My grandparents are from Southern Sask.
DeleteIt was a big one. A beauty too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marie, I wish there was a horse there for scale lol!
DeleteIn regards to your comment at today's post, yes, that's the rink that's a temporary rink. It'll be there through February, so it'll be included for Winterlude.
ReplyDeleteCool! It looks great! Fancier than the rinks that pop up on fields all over my town lol!
DeleteAnother beauty, Jenn. It's amazing that all these old buildings, barns or whatever are just sitting out there decaying in disrepair. So glad you are photographing them.
ReplyDeleteHi Bill, I know...it amazes me sometimes how much is left behind or forgotten.
DeleteThat is a big barn
ReplyDeleteHey Adam....darn right!
DeleteWhat wide proportions it has! Glad you got these pics of it!
ReplyDeleteThanks RedPat, I have to see all these things now, before they are gone for ever.
