96

My Grandpa, we call him Papa, is 96 today. He is a Husband, Brother, Uncle, Great-Grandfather, Grandfather, Father, and a WWII Veteran. He currently lives in a centre for Veterans in Calgary and has suffered from dementia for many years. He does not remember any of us but we remember him today and everyday. Happy Birthday Papa!

    1. Thanks PDP. It is tough for sure on all of us, mostly though on my Nana, who likes to visit everyday if she can even though he sleeps mostly and doesn't know her anymore.

  5. Happy Birthday to him.

Dementia hasn't made much of a presence in my extended family. Just an aunt with an early diagnosis, but it was cancer that took her before it progressed.

    1. Hi William, it must run in my family, his mother had it and he always worried it would happen to him. His younger brother has also been affected.
