My Grandpa, we call him Papa, is 96 today. He is a Husband, Brother, Uncle, Great-Grandfather, Grandfather, Father, and a WWII Veteran. He currently lives in a centre for Veterans in Calgary and has suffered from dementia for many years. He does not remember any of us but we remember him today and everyday. Happy Birthday Papa!
May God bless him, and you.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Gorges.
DeleteNice family pictures. Congratulations to your Grandpa on his many years.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andy, I have lots of good memories with my Papa.
DeleteHappy birthday to your dear Grandpa.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marie. Mmy mom, aunt and Nana took him a cake, which I know he will enjoy.
DeleteHappy Birthday to him! He fought the good fight and continues to do so.
ReplyDeleteThanks Debra, my nana who is 92 next month still goes to visit him everyday if possible.
DeleteHappy birthday to your lovely grandpa Jenn 🎊🎉🎉🎈✨ Dementia is the cruellest, for the family and the patient.
ReplyDeleteThanks PDP. It is tough for sure on all of us, mostly though on my Nana, who likes to visit everyday if she can even though he sleeps mostly and doesn't know her anymore.
DeleteHappy Birthday to him.
ReplyDeleteDementia hasn't made much of a presence in my extended family. Just an aunt with an early diagnosis, but it was cancer that took her before it progressed.
Hi William, it must run in my family, his mother had it and he always worried it would happen to him. His younger brother has also been affected.
DeleteCongrats to him! My dad is 96 and thankfully still knows everyone but the memory is not great.
ReplyDeleteHi RedPat, I guess we just have to be thankful they are still here.
DeleteIt is great he has people that care

Hi OB, yes it's hard to see him this way but we are glad he is comfortable and that we can make the most of the time he has left.
DeleteGreat family photos, Jenn. A Happy birthday to your grandpa. My grandmother had dementia when she was in her 90s but it was nice just to see her. It's tough but we were thankful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill. He sleeps most of the time now, it is tough to see him like that.
DeleteBirthday wishes & thanks to your dear Papa!
ReplyDeleteHe is a true hero and gentleman!
