Isolation Life

Hello! It has been <insert number of days> since my last post. I actually had a number in there a few times and never finished the post. So that's how things are going here. How are you?

I foolishly thought that working from home would be awesome, no commute, can work in pajamas...  Wrong. I spent my day working on and off my computer in a dedicated office in my house. However there is still home stuff and kiddo doing schoolwork on his laptop and everything is just different. It's draining and exhausting somehow and any routines or plans seem to have fallen by the wayside.

I read a quote online that said, "You are not working from home, you are at home, during a crisis, trying to work." I feel this.  Although, now things are gradually reopening, which is hopefully going to bring back some normalcy.

Here is a roundup of some of my favorite recent single images:

The starburst effect.

Just before the ice was all gone...

Amazing how fast the ice disappears!

I have also found some cool old buildings that I am hoping to learn more about before posting, stay tuned! It won't be as long between blogs.

Hope everyone is safe and healthy.

  3. I like the twp trees and the old building the best, though they're ALL good. Maybe things will get back to normal before long, at least if we refuse to accept the "new normal."

  5. I am retired so working at home is not an issue, but I am sure it is not all it's cracked up to be. When I did work, I spent one day per week working from home, and it was great, but I am sure that doing it full time would be a different thing entirely.

    1. Hi David! I think one day a week would be ideal! I would love that but we will be back in the office full time soon, but still closed to walk in traffic. Appointment only!

  7. Cool photos! Is that lighthouse on Sylvan Lake or where is it? Not a standard sight on the prairies.

I'm glad I'm retired so I don't have to work from home. I hated it whenever I had to do work at home on evenings/weekends. I always preferred to keep a strict separation between my work world and my private life/time. So you have my sympathy!

    1. Hi Debra,
Yes, it is on Sylvan Lake. A replica of the one at Peggy's Cove. It makes for a pretty sight and picture on the shore of the lake but doesn't have any real purpose lol! Hope you're well!

  8. Super photos as always. I have a friend who has worked from home for years and loves it, he doesn't have children at home which probably makes a lot of difference! I'm just thankful that I've retired, though I do sometimes feel guilty when I think of the pressure that care workers are under at present.

I shouldn't complain too much, I am lucky to still be working.

  9. Wonderful selection of colourful photos!

It's pretty easy for me to practise social distancing since I work outside and on my own. Life goes on much the same as it was before the world went crazy.

    1. Thank you! Those pictures are a couple weeks apart but look so different. It's cool to see the ice melt and disappear. This year there was some large ice jams that pushed up over the pier.
