The Most Wonderful Time of Year

Ok, so maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration but July is a great month to find bright beautiful canola fields all over the countryside. Had I stopped at every picturesque canola field, this post would never end.

I am always looking for that special field with an old house or barn or something in it.  I never did find my canola 'field of dreams' but I know it is out there. I will likely have to wait until next July now.

Here are a few of the honourable mentions in the Canola and Barns category:

Canola and Canada Flags:

Last but not least, Canola and Skies:

Do you have canola fields where you live? I look forward to seeing them every summer! Have a great week everyone.

  4. Canola is one of those things that really brightens up the prairie and Canola photos are popular with the photo taking set here in Alberta. It is one of those things that makes me instantly think of prairies and summer. I have seen fields of flax that have a purple hue to the fields. Unfortunately that does not turn up all that well in a photo.

  5. It has been a while since I was out and about, but I don't ever remember seeing canola fields here. Mostly corn and soybeans. Maybe a field of sunflowers here and there. The canola fields are impressive, especially with the barns. Great shots.

  8. Canola is called Oilseed Rape in the UK. They grow a lot of it around here but it's all harvested weeks ago. I quite like the look of it but I can't say I enjoy the smell. You've got some splendid pictures here and the fourth photo is especially attractive.

    1. Hi Danielle, yes it is. I think it was first developed in Canada but I believe it is grown other places as well.
