Beautiful Abandonment

I was too busy looking to the right and missed this beautiful old house on the left....luckily the driver of the expedition saw it and turned around.

What struck me most about this old home. besides the wood shaker siding, was how straight and true it still appears to be.

    1. So many abandoned, falling down buildings that could've been used.

  2. You wonder about all the drama of life that took place within those walls. If only they could talk........

  7. Your header pic is stunning, friend Jenn! The sturdy lil house is a precious reminder of our sturdy homesteaders and pioneers. One of these days I'll find the time and show you the gems in my neck of the woods. Promise :) Love, cat.

  8. It certainly does seem unusually upright and the roof-line also looks dead straight too. I'm often surprised when seeing your photos that many buildings stand in such open country. Here any house in an isolated position would be surrounded by trees and outbuildings.

    1. Hi John, quite often there was a shelter belt of trees around these homesteads but yes sometimes there are out in the open with nothing around them...easier for us photographers to see! lol

    1. Hi Debbie, I think they are beautiful too and I think how emotional it must be for the former owners or family to see it.

  11. I think that this must be the shortest blog that I have ever read. That said, it's an excellent image of this unusually large old house.
